(Any corrections / improvements / suggestions, the email is above)

A little history

A Russian woman flew for the first time in the 21st century - the 38 year old Yelena Serova. Before her there was Valentina Tereshkova - the first woman in space. Then Svetlana Savitskaya flew twice in orbit, the first representative of a beautiful generation published in open space. From 1994 to1997 Yelena Kondakova also visited space.

Childhood

Lena was born into the family of an officer of the V V S. (Air Force). Here she was located at a military aerodrome where her father worked. Her first teacher talked a lot to his students about all events, and places in cosmonautics. These lessons sunk into the soul of the 10-year old girl. Yelena says, that exactly then she decided to become an engineer, whose life is connected with the sky.

Beginning of Route

In 1993, Lena finished general education and then, as she dreamed received aerospace faculty of the Moscow Aeronautical Institute. After finishing at the Institute she became a test-engineer and received a job at the Great Operational Group Center Mission Control in the town of Korolyov outside Moscow. Ehe was enrolled in the squad of cosmonauts in 2006. The figure of Yelean Serova, which conducted at MKC for half a year, caused enhanced interest : in a time when females dreamed to rather become icons of style, fashion bloggers, designers, she was step by step to her goals. And at the end - she reached it.

Preparation

Together with colleagues, Yelena led intensive research as well as physical fitness for upcoming flight : she trained in centrifuge, rehearsed landing in a marshy area in winter conditions, tolerated overload, worked in a state of weightlessness, led preparations for the experiments on board the ISS. In March 2014 she was approved as a member of the crew together with Russian Aleksandr Samokutyayev crew commander and NASA astronaut Barry Wilmore second flight engineer.

Life in Weightlessness

On the ISS, she participated in various planned experiments. The task of one of them was to find out: why plasma in outer space copies the structure of human DNA. How does this come about? In flight, the cosmonauts must not forget other important tasks - continually improving their fitness. It is no secret that in outer space cosmonauts do not experience stress, therefore the muscles can gradually atrophy . In space there are other inconveniences. There are no proper showers or baths in the station - because in weightlessness water forms in globules just floating in the air. And yet nothing will keep this cosmonaut from flying into orbit and until Yelena Serova worked on the ISS, her husband and daughter waited on Earth. On 12th March 2015, the supply vehicle "Soyuz TMA -14M" returned safely from its mission.
